Kilimanjaro Itinerary - Lemosho Route [7 Days / 6 Nights]


Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi

Pick up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi town. Meet your fellow trekkers, guides and review your equipment in preparation for the trek in the evening. Spend the night at the hotel provided with the package.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp

We will pick you up at the hotel in Moshi after breakfast and drive about 3 hour to the Londorossi gate where the trek starts. The trail goes through the lowland forest where you are likely spot the monkeys.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp

The hike is long and different today as the jungle gives away to zones of giant heather and moorland. You first reach the Shira ridge before the trail continues downhill to Shira 1 camp for lunch. After lunch, you continue hiking to Shira 2 camp.

Day 4: Barranco Camp

Today's route consists of two sections, the hike up to the Lava tower followed by a hike down to Barranco camp. You will enjoy the lunch at Lava tower. The Barranco camp is nestled at the base of infamous Barranco wall.

Day 5: Karanga Camp

The day starts with a challenging climb up the steep Barranco wall before dropping into the Karanga Valley where your take the rest for the rest of the day in Karanga camp. The Barranco wall look intimidating at first, but is very much manageable.

Day 6: Barafu High Camp

It's a moderate 3 hour hike from Karanga camp to Barafu camp. You will reach the Barafu camp early and go to bed after early dinner. This is the highest camp and the push to the summit will begin at 11pm when you start getting your gear ready.

Day 7: Uhuru Peak

The day starts at midnight with the final push to the summit. It's a strenuous six hour hike to the summit. The summit rim is reached just about sunrise and it's a fairly level hike around the rim to Uhuru Peak. Going down, you will head back to Barafu camp for a short nap and snacks before continuing down to Mweka camp (3068m/10,065feet).

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Moshi

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Moshi

From Mweka campsite it is a 4 to 5 hours descent to Mweka gate. This part of the route takes you back to rainforest. Collect your certificate and return to Moshi for the night and to have a final farewell dinner with your guides.

Day 9: Departure Day

After breakfast, according to your flight time we will drop you at the airport or assist you in catching the shuttle to Serengeti National Park for Safari.
